Meet Team Smash
Ashley Teran
Ashley Teran is the Founding Owner, Creative Director, and Lead Floral Designer of Smash. You could say she has three children – two beautiful girls and Smash Events, Inc! Her creative drive, tenacity, and eye for detail have grown the company into what it is today, and she has no intention of capping that growth. Her goodwill, demand for excellence, and business acumen have contributed to the company doubling its growth each year since 2012.
Ashley handles all of Smash’s sales and is the first and last point of contact for our clients. Her ability to recognize and develop talent in others has resulted in an all-star team of creative and talented event professionals. The sky is NO limit for Ashley and the word ‘no’ doesn’t seem to be in her vocabulary. The phrase “If you can dream it, you can do it” has become the rallying cry by which she finds a way to make new ideas work for both our company and our clients.
Ashley pours her heart into every aspect of the company. She is happiest when she is creating – whether it’s a new menu, a unique vision for a client, or in the floral studio creating her one-of-a-kind designs. Ashley dreams big and follows through to execution. She finds joy in the process of making and believes that failures can lead to overwhelming successes.
When she’s not hard at work (which is rare), you can find her crafting the most beautifully detailed costumes for her daughters or throwing them the wildest themed and detailed birthday parties. She loves catching a good show, singing karaoke, and planning trips with her family. Her influences include Walt Disney, Tupac Shakur, and Joni Mitchell’s Blue.
Nestor Teran
Here’s Chef Nestor. Nestor is the Executive Chef of Smash Events, Inc. Growing up in Miami, Nes’ upbringing was seasoned by the confluence of many Latin American and countless other cultures that abound there. As the only American-born child of Nicaraguan parents, Nestor found himself split between two worlds – that of his family’s exotic and traditional homeland and that of his more progressive, ever-evolving America.
As a child, he would stand on tiptoes, just barely able to peek his eyes over the countertop, to watch his mother prepare generations-old recipes. These observations made an indelible impression on the young chef. Time spent in Baton Rouge during his college years also contributed to Nes’ culinary repertoire, while living in Western North Carolina has allowed Nes to infuse some Southern flair into his style.
Nestor knows how food can transcend place and bring one home, even when home seems far, far away. This chameleon-in-the-kitchen has the ability to shine in a wide range of cooking styles while always retaining the essential ‘Nesness’ of his food. Whether it’s a perfectly done steak or a delicate sauce, he can handle anything that is thrown at him. Nestor’s dank skills in the kitchen have solidified Smash’s place as one of the premier catering companies in Western North Carolina.
Dominique Bedrosian
Dominique Bedrosian joined the Smash team in 2013 and quickly rose through the ranks to eventually become our Lead Planner, making Smash Events Planning what it is today! Dominique has taken the role of Lead Planner and created her own style of wedding planning that is very rare in the industry. Our clients LOVE her and so do we. Simply put, Dominique is a born leader and was made for this job. Dominique is like Vanilla Ice – when presented with a problem, she promptly solves it with tactful aplomb. She is the voice of reason when things seem overwhelming and is a solutions-oriented thinker. Her calm and anxiety-relieving personality keeps our clients’ nerves at bay throughout the planning process and on their wedding days. She doesn’t spend any time complaining about a problem, but rather swiftly redirects those around her to attack any situation at hand with positivity and hard work. Her organizational skills, attention to detail and genuine love for her clients make her a vital member of the Smash family. Hire her to plan your wedding and she’ll become a member of yours!
Jill Stewart
Jill Stewart is Smash’s Lead Floral Designer who works with our clients to make their floral and design dreams come true. There is truly no theme or concept that our team can’t handle with Jill’s brilliance at the helm. Her inherent nature as a risk-taker and bold thinker makes her floral designs unique and dynamic and awe-inspiring to all who see them.
Jill is an artist in every sense of the word. She joined our Floral Design Team in 2016 and is now a beloved friend and colleague, as well as an indispensable member of the Smash team.
When not Smashing it for our clients, Jill is also an accomplished musician, diagnoser of brain tumors, herbalist, and mama to her sweet pup Teito and daughter Zuzu.
